The first bad batch came back on a Tuesday. Eight thousand leather patches, each with a burnt-looking edge and one logo sitting slightly off-center. At arm's length, most people wouldn't notice. Under a 10x loupe, it looked like we'd handed a first-pass student the production run.
I'm a quality and brand compliance manager at a contract manufacturer. I review every prototype and first article before it reaches customers—roughly 200 unique items a year.
